I can't answer your question, but here's a comment: The GM 10SI and 12SI alternators are probably some of the most reliable ever made. And they are a heck of a lot cheaper than the newer ones.

Here's good article on selecting one. The website may even have info on the newer models.

They have pigtails that allow what you need to work. Just have to decide on the alternator size.

I put a CS144 in my old 74.

When it comes to electrical I'm completely lost ... electrical is my weak point and I absolutely hate it with the passion. If anyone here could help me out with how to properly wire a DR44 alternator in my 86 C10 it would be greatly appreciated !

Napa carries both parts from what I found.

Echlin EC80 and Echlin EC82

EC80 doesn't have a restistor and the EC82 does have a resistor.

All newer alternators by GM use the pin plug. The older SI models used a 2 pin. If you look at the adapter you'll see its a 2 pin to 4 pin.

I see the 4 pin connector but I don't think it's the right shape.
Here's a pic I found online of a DR44 plug on the back of the alternator. Hope im not making this frustrating :sorry:

The CS and DR use a different style connector. Whether or not the DR is compatible, I don't recall exactly. I think it is though, just wire in the correct two terminals.
