Lt1 383 build possibly!

I came across a rebuildable lt1 motor, or at least I'm told it is an lt1, will make sure when I get the numbers off of it, buuuut what I'm wanting to know is this, feasible or not, or waste of time and money? I'm getting the block and heads for $150. I want to do carb and stay away from tbi or tuned out for now, I am afraid of optispark! Lol so is there anything anyone can tell me about my idea, I want a 383, but am kinda scared of overheating issues which I've been told happens, amongst other things, so who knows their stuff and can aid me in this endeavor?

IIRC, GM sells a 4bbl manifold that also accepts a good ol fashioned HEI dizzy. I've never heard of any overheating issues with an LT1, they just can be a bear to work on when installed in an F or B body.
