looking to put a 4in lift kit on my 1985 k15 with a 350, what lift kit out there is the best bang for your buck, I've seen the rough country lift kit but some people I know didn't have as good of luck with the kit as they were hoping.
Thanks
-Jesse

I really like rough country products. Never been disappointed with anything from them. I would recommend getting the upgraded v2 shocks. The base n3 shocks are way to stiff.

That said skyjacker makes a good kit too(get the kit with all 4 springs and the black max shocks)

i suggest skyjacker soft ride lift kit. My buddy has one in his truck and it rides much better than my BDS lift. Now my kit is definitely more heavy duty but definitely rides like it! I would stay away from rough country, seen a few start sagging after a number of years

1985 K20 4x4 manual longbed. When i restored my truck i went on the cheap with rough country 4" front springs & 4" blocks in rear,3" body lift I had already i pinned and welded 1 3/8" steel blocks to the front axle pad to give it a little rake. I know they say you should not block the front but i did the blocks 35 years ago and my truck has been airborn and pinched so many times. Right now i just put a set of 44" mudders and they fit but are tight for offroading. This truck will never see rain or mud again.Ordered my truck in Juyl 1984 has 66K miles on her ,sure have a lot of memories .Also i was going to drop the transfer case a couple of inches but the angle on driveshafts i do not feel it is needed. Also clamped the front of the rear spring to help stop axle wrap.Body lift on these trucks offset the radiator schroud and need to modify so the radiator does not run hot.Dont expect to have an open beverage while you are driving with the lift or you will be wearing it.

Hello Dixie Pride. I want to know how you're running 44's on 7 inches of lift. Did I read that correctly?

Shocks make a big difference. I went from gas charged too hydraulic. The gas charged were stiff for everyday driving.

DIXIE PRIDE 85 K20 longbed manuall tranny Sorry i for forgot to say 4" rear Blocks, new 4" arch front springs with 1 1/4 " steel blocks pinned and welded to give the truck a little rake.3 inch body lift and cutout fender flaires. So the cutouts make a huge difference while running 44" mudders on 16.5 rims. Also 4" drop pitman arm,3" drop sway bar longer flexible Stainless brake lines, longer shocks. I would not do any serious offroading with this setup with anything larger than 40".They fit and drive good with the magnetic balancing medium in the rims..This truck is retired from off road i have just had it for almost 40 years ,keep it clean and in the barn.Name on the truck is REVERENT BLACK.

This was my last truck, '79 K15 with a 350/350 & A/C combo. I had a 4" Tuff Country EZ Ride lift with rear block and SX8000 shocks. I added Off Road Designs front sway bar disconnect to prevent any spring bind. This was my best riding Square Body 4x4 I've had.

I also have the Tuff Country EZ-ride HD fronts and have modified the rear to run 63" GMT-400 K2500 rear springs and a 2.5" shackle flip. I have the ORD sway bar disconnect and just leave it disconnected unless I am towing or hauling a heavy load in the bed. Rides really good for a 3/4 ton, but would probably be a big improvement if I switched to a higher quality shock like a Bilstein 5125 or similar.

Craig did you notice any difference in ride quality between with the Warn bumper and without it?

I can’t recall the ride with the stock bumper. It rode pretty smooth with the winch bumper (never had a winch).

I know my current K30 with a 454 has the HD springs (1 more short leaf) and I think it’s too stiff. One of these days I’ll remove that leaf and it will be the same as the EZ Rides.

Skyjacker soft ride. Top that with 5100’s and it will ride good. Don’t cheap out on blocks or body lifts

4” skyjacker 33’s 5100 shocks
