For me, buying the same platform makes the most sense. I've got mostly Dewalt now so I can swap batteries. Have used many diff vendors for many years, once everyone made the swap to to LI-ON most are pretty good. If you have a few of one mfg, think seriously before going to others.
I’ve started a thread elsewhere, but I’ve got 4 different battery lines right now. Metabo 18v, dewalt 20v, and kobalt 24 and 40v. I have the most Metabo stuff, , followed by dewalt and then kobalt. So I could get a sawzall for any of those lines. I prefer dewalt the most, but it’s also the most expensive option.

Yea, it’s what came in the combo kit with drill, impact driver and multi tool. I added the sawzall but tried to use the small battery. I probably need at least a 4aH, but those things are expensive. Hate to buy one just to continue to be disappointed.

There's a farm store in the midwest called Bomgaars. They often have great sales on select items. They often have 2-packs of the 5Ah batteries for the same price or less than what other stores sell just 1 battery for. They may do online sales too, but not sure at all about that.
