I know I post this last year. But I have still not fixed this problem.

1. new wires
2. new spark plugs
3. new cap and rotor
4. New coil
5. new ignition module
6. replace dizzy with a good working GM 1
7. new alternator

Just about everything needed. Yes I used the paste so the module would not heat up, and yes I cleaned all the old paste off before I put the new paste.

After all this new stuff, 2 min, later it blew the module again. GROUNDS ARE GOOD AND CLEAN ..

Will a MSD box with a external coil make this NIGHTMARE go away???
I am really lost what to do here.

The only other thing I can think of is the ignition box on the steering column. Could those go bad or create a short to blow out the modules??
engine is a 5.7 auto.

update. Starting taking stuff apart to put a new module in. Here is what i found.

If Im correct, there should be a metal ground tab in the cap correct?? Looks like a hook end for ground? Nothing here.

See the white looking soot on the black coil. It was all over the wires close to coil also..

You see the spring in the center!!
