Hey yall,
Cory here from S.C. I just recently (2 days ago) bought a 87 r10. I'm new at this, have never posted on a forum before so forgive me if i don't do it right.

So of course I bought it and the first thing I did was start searching for whatever I could possibly do to make it better swaps, wheels, anything and everything. But the more I started looking I realized that my truck didn't look the same as most I've seen in pictures. This is my second square, I previously had a lifted 84 Scottsdale k10. What I'm getting at is my 87 has no badges, trim pieces, nothing. So me not being so knowledgeable about these trucks im looking for help as to what I have exactly. Thank you in advance. If more info is needed I'll see what I can figure out.

Welcome! Pics?

Do you have a TBI under the hood? Check the glovebox door for the RPO codes. These old trucks are often frankensteins of parts, so whatever you find may or may not be accurate. Of course, you can always turn it into whatever you want at that point.

Those are some "grippy" tires you have on that truck for it to hold a total vertical incline like that!! :Insane:

Welcome

The interior looks pretty good. The body needs some dents fixed and repainted and she'll be good to go.

Take the pics with your phone horizontal(landscape) instead of vertical (portrait)

Nice square...didnt didn't notice any rust either. Looks to be in good shape. My cab and bed are an 87 r10, the frame is an 84 and the front clip,is from a suburban....yep it's a frankentruck. Theres a lot of crossover parts for these trucks so tons of options if you want something unique.

Yea from what I could tell so far in has no rust on it other than a little surface rust on the inside of the bumpers.

Welcome aboard.

Judging from the single headlamp front end it's either a Custom Deluxe or Scottsdale trim level. Is there an emblem on the dash, way over to the right by the AC outlet? That's a later model steering wheel, and the seat has been reupholstered.

Can you post a pic of the SPID label (inside the glovebox)? That will tell us a lot.

If you have some time there's a ton of pictures in my build thread of my red '87 R10 (1/2 ton 2wd swb): http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=342926

Ok I checked the truck out a little more today and found that there are no codes on the inside of my glove box which leads to believe it may have been replaced. So at the end of the dash like Keith said it does have an emblem and it says Silverado so maybe that's what it is but the dash to me looks really good almost to good to be that age so maybe the hole thing was replaced with a Silverado dash idk. What do I look for in my vin# to tell me?

This is my 84 k10 and although it's older it looks similar.
