So I was at my yearly family reunion shooting the **** with my uncle. He's a big Jeep enthusiast. We were talking about our 4x4 vehicles and modifications we would love to do with the time, money, and skill. We got talking about jeep doors and how it's nice to pop them off and ride topless.

So our "dream" idea for a Square body was to make a summer stylin square.
chop the top off to make it open, and make a removable door system. If i had the money to buy another square and a garage to house it i would so tackle this project.

My thought is has anyone on here ever made removable doors for their square so you could ride open?

Id like to get a 2nd set of doors to remove the sheet metal, cut it down to half height, and make it just a frame with an open grate look.

kinda like this:

I mean creating a system for swapping doors. Then have one set of factory doors, and one set of open doors. Or ride doorless

This is what I have as secondary doors. Top half been painted white to match the rest of the truck since this pic.

I used this write up to swap doors easier.

http://coloradok5.com/doorhingepins.shtml

Have plans to use solid round stock to shape to upper door frame, take to upholstery shop to see if they can Fab up zipper windows like a jeep door.

There are tube doors out there for square bodies.....DIY4X.com and Offroaddesign.com make them

Someone on here not long ago, made their own tube doors. It was a CUCV Blazer IIRC, and looked great too. Anyone remember that thread?

The door is the easy part. Its making an easily removable hinge assembly to swap doors in less then an hour.

Yes I did. It makes getting to the retaining pin that holds the door pin in place easier. I can get a pic if you like?
