When I replaced my windshield, I had the installer move mine up since I've got a long torso and the mirror was in my line of sight.

Good idea, Craig. really doesn't matter where you put it as long as it works for you!!

I haven't installed them in my truck since they were missing when I bought it. Because I have the long torso, most of the time I don't need visors. In the first photo you can see the button is above the bottom of the shading, but the mirror is hanging just below. My '79 is the second picture (my previous truck). I think I moved that one up too, but not as high. I know for sure that one had no interference issues.

The button on mine is just below the shading. Previously it was about an inch higher and the visors always hit the mirror. But if you don't need visors then so be it.

If you had a local company cut a piece, you would lose the day/night function. I had originally thought of doing the same thing. The mirror I listed above has that function.
I haven't used that feature in well over a decade. I bet a lot of younger folks don't even know what your talking about

What's behind you is not important.
If you have ever driven big trucks or much commercial stuff or pull big trailers the rear view mirror is no use anyway. I can drive without one after so much driving a fire truck or me pulling my pontoon boat.

yeah and now that cops don't drive Crown Vics with those telltale parking lights, you can't even tell who's behind you anymore so there's really need to look back. Just assume they're all cops and only sip the beer when it's pitch black behind you
