Interior Hood Release Pics, please send me one.

Hello, I'm upgrading to an inside hood release. I have all the parts except the cable and the interior kick panel. Can someone please send me a pic of what the inside looks like? I think the cable mounts to the kick panel but not sure. There's not any other trucks around here for me to look at and I found nothing on the internet, thanks all.

I added a pick of the original. It's a 78 Scottsdale so it has the narrow kick panel. I'm not sure if any shorter kick panels have the provision for the cable. (Or just drill a hole in the plastic?)

I would think it would be attached to a metal bracket.

Thanks, what year is that? That looks like an earlier design .

Don't have my truck with me right now, but the replacement cable from 73-80 and 81-87 "should" be the same. LMC shows the same part number for both. Cable should be mounted through the plastic kick panel to the interior metal kick panel with two hex head screws (9/32" socket iirc). Really tight spot with the kick panel floor vent and e-brake release handle.

My 77 Chevy 2wd C10 was the same style cable, ran from the kick panel to the latch at the radiator support. And yes, that's the original mount and cable as shown in the video.

Just checked like every pic I have of my 83 and can't find a single one with the hood release in it. Know the originals had a molded section where they sat behind the kick panel iirc. Those are a bit more of a pita to replace because now you have to take the kick panel off to get to the mounting screws. But if you're just retrofitting what you have to an interior release cable, that video will show you the easier way to install it and if you can't find the right original kick panel in the right color for your truck.

Thanks. This truck is apart being restored so I can get to everything for now, ha. I want to fill in some holes in the bottom of the metal dash that's not being used, and I didn't want to fill in any that I may need. I took a lot of pics before I tore it apart,but of course I didn't take any of this area. I'm looking at different style kick panels, mine are basic Scottsdale.
