Have you checked ebay or craigslist for an intake? I am certain you could find a factory intake on there. Or even get another aluminum intake.

Yep, look everyday, craigs and ebay. It's just a matter of time but wanted to pick some brains for any info before I buy something I can't use. Not real familiar with BBCs. Thanks for trying tho.

You could replace it with another aluminum unit. May be easier in the interim, and then keep your eyes peeled for a factory unit. Either way, there a ton of members on here that have way more knowledge about what that intake should look like, hopefully some of them will chime in.

One thing to remember, those big blocks were originally built with heads that had 3 different size intake ports. Now I am pretty sure it does not have the large rectangular ports unless they have been changed. But there are 2 size oval ports. Large oval ports and the peanut ports. If the heads are stock, someone here can tell you what year the port size changed.

Sounds like he needs to get the casting numbers. I forgot all about the different sized ports.

You have a 1 ton, so you might be able to get away with a lot more than others. The standards in the 70s and 80s were different in Ca those years, some on trucks that had the same equiptment. You truck was obviously used(and probably purchased as a trailering special), so you have to go with that when you go for smog. A ref might let it slide a little. You have a reason for a high GVW truck. I was sent to a "gold station" one year and they plugged in the code for a 1500 instead of a 2500, they put in a whole bunch of new parts and the state picked up the first $900. It did not run right,for 2 years, and I went to my regular station next time and he found the problem, I have passed the last 6 times. These stations can do this, CARB wants the big old trucks off the road. These trailer hauling trucks need the power, so you have to make it known that is what it is for.

Trying to find a OEM non-egr (EGR is routed to the smog pump) intake to replace the washed out one.

I have the factory intake for a 454 with peanut port heads. I replaced it with an Edelbrock intake when I dropped a reman 454 in last year. The only two issues are the front water pump bypass fitting broke off and the threaded portion of it is still inside the manifold. Second, its a little rusty and would need to be cleaned up, but it’s just surface rust. It sat around for a year because I never intended to reuse it. Tried selling it on the local buy and sell groups, but no one wanted it. Only thing that keeps me from junking it is I hate throwing away something that is still usable. These are older pics from when I tried to sell it last year. I’m away from home and can’t take a current pic at the moment.

Some small blocks in the 1980s had aluminum intake manifolds from the factory. Was that also the case with big blocks, or were they used only in the late 60s/early 70s on high performance engines? Of course, if it was a factory manifold it would probably have a GM casting number on it somewhere. Nice-looking truck!

Looks to be in pretty good shape, are you still thinking of selling it?

The '85 emissions label is for my truck. Even though I have an '85, it runs '84 emissions, due to the Federal emissions changes 1/1/85. My truck was produced 11/84. I believe '84 the same as '83 454's, but I'm not positive. I know my truck has an EGR due to California emissions. Another member here has a similar Federal truck and does not have the EGR.

If you passed emissions with the equipment you have great. With regards to intakes, you can change them out in California, as long as it has all the emissions hook ups ( verified this with a smog referee). I had a problem on my last truck when I went to sell/smog it. The intake was warped and I was able to replace it with a Performer intake with an EGR mounting location. See the BAR attachment page 51 & 52.

You definitely need to see what heads you have. The BBC Edelbrock Performer is not compatible with peanut port heads.

I just saw your other post on the emissions label. Although that one is for a P30 chassis, I don't know why the emissions would be different for your C30. There are some minor differences between that label and mine. I have a 2 & a 4 port, ported vacuum switches, the '83 shows two 4 ports. I also have an extra vacuum pod on the R/R of my carb that keeps the secondaries closed until the engine is warmed up.

Here is a current pic of it. Like I said earlier, it’s been off for a year now so it has some rust and will need to be cleaned up. The front water pump bypass fitting still needs to be removed. Otherwise it’s good. You can have it if you want to pay the shipping.
