hey guys, post up your methods and experiences fixing hood creases. anyone used the Lmc hood brace kit? my crease really bothers me and I want to fix it. for $20 at lmc it seems like a great price IF it really fixes it.

maybe you guys have fixes these creases better and maybe even cheaper.

IMHO, it's not needed at all. Once the hood is bent, it's going to take a lot of work to make it straight again (paint-able). And if the hinges get lubed up every now and again, the hood will never kink.

So, if the hood is nice, lube the hinges.

If the hood is bent, replace it and then lube the hinges.

Find an original '74 hood, they don't have the built in crumple zone that causes the crease.

I put the brace kit from LMC on my hood when I bought it brand new to keep it FROM creasing. Like bucket said, if it's already creased I'd say forget it :)

In my experience the crease is caused by bad hinges..they need to be lubed on a regular basis. And I have a hood off a 74 pickup ill have to campare it to my backup hood off a 80 to see the diff.

The earlier hoods need to be modified to be used on a '77-'80 with the optional inside hood release.

'75 may have been that last year for the non-crumple design. I had stuck one on the '77, I don't remember it having the notches on the underside.

I have a 73 hood and it has the crumple notches. Weld some angle on it and call it done.
