So my speedo used to work then suddenly quit, i put a new lower cable on and noting. Changed the driven gear to no avail. Today while doin other work i pulled the cable off the trans and put it in my cordless drill and spun it, no speedo. I then unhooked the upper cable from the cruise transducer and spun that with the drill, not even a peep outta the speedo. Hit me with some advice here.... is my drill too ****** to make the speedo read or is my actual speedo gauge shot somehow?

You can spin the cable with your fingers fast enough to make the speedometer read, so i doubt it is your drill. Probably not the speedometer itself . check to see if the upper cable is in the back of the speedometer it pops in and i just held in place with a spring clip. you can reach up and feel it from under the dash. if not remove and check the upper cable.

I
No. 2wd i have one for sale though lol:p
Was thinking you could turn it backwards and try the opposite end with the drill.
But I think he's right, it should respond spinning it with your fingers

And after thinking on it, that wouldn't work anyways

Well, the obvious is, is it engaging into the back of the speedo? Is the socket in the speedo stripped out where the square isn't damaged.

Remember you need to have your drill in reverse to make the speedo run clockwise??

I would pull cluster, visually verify the cable spins on the cluster end while using drill. Its not a lot of bolts to pull.

If you have a smartphone use a speedo app called 'Speedometer'. It helped me when I removed my dash.
