after thinking about it just moving the cross member to the inside of the frame you could use the spacers on the bolts between the cross member and the frame to fill the gap and you would gain about 1.5''

I go back to work tomorrow when I go on days off again I will mess around with this again and see what I come up with

I wanted to get mine together and in the truck on this set of days off so I went the easy fast way

I see absolutely nothing wrong with the way you did yours I was just thinking about the additional clearance you'd gain from moving the entire cross member up.

But the 2"of ground clearance you'd gain probably doesn't mean **** when your truck is 30 feet long haha

my first post in this thread I talked about moving the cross member inside the frame with it spaced up.

I wussed out today and went the easy way to just get it in the truck. I had enough to deal with just getting it together and in there.:emotions122:

my truck is not lifted and I have no plans to lift it so it hanging down 2'' more than it should will affect my trucks ground clearance.

I didn't go to work today and my energy suspension mount showed up in the mail so I figured I would mess around with it.

the cross member fit between the frame with just a little force no trimming.

the spacers on the bolts and 1 flat washer filled the room between the cross member and the frame perfect.

that raised the transmission 1.5''

I built two 1/4'' spacers for the mount one on top and one on bottom to raise the tranny another 1/2'' so I got 2'' total and it was pretty easy.

I only have 1 bolt on each side right now I need to drill the other hole In the frame on each side

I could of spaced the cross member up another 1/2'' but I wanted it to stay on the frame

That looks bad ass. Who'd you get the trans mount from?

Tried to flip my x member to inside of frame and it's not gonna happen... the 205 makes contact with the pass side exhaust. So I'll have to rework the exhaust possibly get new headers. I've got Doug thorley tri y right now. I was however able to shim up the transmission mount a quarter inch and get enough room off the firewall so my plug wires don't rub anymore. So I'm happy for now. Until I get some money to lengthen the front drive shaft and rework the exhaust

Curious to see what you do for exhaust kleedus as there isn't **** floor room there...it is also where the factory fuel filter is On my truck. So the exhaust can't really go any closer to the frame rail

it actually has 1/2 more room than a half ton with the same cross member so exhaust should not be a problem.

I will be running stock manifolds and a stock y pipe from a suburban with the same cross member so it should fit with no trouble

the driver side should fit easy the pass side can be routed around the t case pretty easy as well. I have had it done multiple times with a 4 speed/205 and a 350,400 and 700r4with both 205's and 208's

when your engine and tranny are sitting right you should have lots of room

I'm pretty much screwed with my current exhaust set up as far as the trans up to height. I might wack it off at the collector and put ball flanges and re do that side around the case. Thanks for your help
