Thinking since the Gear Venders Under/Overdrive is on there, it must be converted, right?

Thanks dude. :rockit:
Ya know...you are probably not as far away from passing smog as you think. 3/4 ton didnt have a cat until 87. you may just need the thermostatic air cleaner, a smog pump, and AIR tubes in the headers. Contact Henry at the smog referee there at Las Positas College in Livermore, and see if you can have him look at the truck to see what you would need to pass.
I also have some emissions diagrams here that I will go through to see which would be the least headache.

Cool, thanks for the referral Jim. Believe the headers have smog taps, they're just welded shut. Any help appreciated. You headed to Goodguys tomorrow?

Agreed, plan to keep it substantially the same, just cleanin it up where it needs a lil TLC....

Nope, not this time, we usually go to the fall show. My girls want to go to the Apricot Fiesta thats going on here this weekend.
I dont get out to the bay area that much anymore, no reason to, and I dont miss much about it, except the natural air conditioning.
I was there all the time when I was working for Save Tow. But aside from the occasional concert, or going to see my brother in El Cerrito, I stay away.

That rear bumper tool box is neat! :) So is the water tank, looks funny with the faucet sticking out, that truck has some character!

Nice setup, I'm drooling over that GV unit.

Sumpin's not kosher with that spring pack though.

I seen the springs first thing but I've seen and had several where they seem kicked out and not lined up, thought it was a normal thing over time?

I'd say just a few whacks with the BFH and a torquing of the u-bolts.

OH hell !!! Why would you want to identify that junk??? Just let me come and get it out of your way. I know you don't want some biggo heavy honkin big block with a Turbo 400 and a Gear Vendor under/over driver unit. And those bumpers are like front and rear porches. Just lemme know when I can come get all that junk out of your way. :waytogo:

Does this truck have a name yet??? It's actually got some cool features. Name it Inspector Gadget, or just Gadjet.
As far as the drivetrain, I'd prefer the NP205 Tcase, but That Th400 with the Gear Vendro Under/Over drive is the best set up you could have in a truck this era. Th400 is plenty strong, so is the Gear Vendor. EVeyone knows what Overdrive is, but having an Underdrive is awesome too. You can have some 4.10's gears since you have OD to compensate, but the Gear Vendor will also help get you a deeper crawl ratio, since that is one of the downfalls of the NP203 and NP208. I'd rock the hell outta that truck !!!

Welcome Aboard.

You may want to get a longer brake hose for the rear end, it looks stretched out.

Lol, thanks HotRod. The truck has actually been for sale for the past 3 yrs in Carson City for $800! I didn't have a place for it and my Uncle just wanted to unload it. When I moved and had a place for it, I had it trailered out here with the intent to get it running again - no idea how much that'd take, but knew this was Gramps truck, and his pride and joy, and may be worth getting running again - (clearly he spared no expense in his day! lol). But he passed a few years ago, and I wasn't sure what was in there (still not! internals, gears, etc!), but its been fun figuring it out and everyone here has been extremely helpful - I think a minor restoration is eminent!

BTW - I'm out here at the Goodguys car show and am surprised by how many square bodies are here!
