I’ve inherited my grandfathers 1983 Chevy C10 stepside pickup. He was the original owner and bought it back in 1983, the year I was born. As his oldest grandson, born the same year he had always intended it to be my truck. He unfortunately lost his 5th and final battle with cancer a year ago and passed away.

He babied this trick and kept it in mint condition for the first 30 years of its life. Old age, hospital stays, and a cousin who lived with them and drove it like he stole it really degraded the truck over the past few years.

I’m hoping to return it to its former glory. I hope you’ll be patient with my as I’ll be on here a lot asking questions as I go. I’m new to this and have very little mechanic experience beyond the basics.

Welcome from Dolan Springs, AZ!
It reminds me of my '81 Custom Deluxe C/10, SWB I drove for 15 years as a daily driver. Mine had a 250 with 3 on the tree.

Sorry to hear about your grandfather, a close friend of ours is on his 3rd battle of cancer and is calling it quits with the treatment so he doesn't have long. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. That's a really killer truck though, bringing it back and having fun with it will be a great way to remember your grandfather. Welcome!

Welcome from NC. That's a great looking truck and I regret to hear about the passing of your grandfather. I was in Southern Utah a few years back. I was amazed at how the geography and color of the landscape changed with every few miles that we drove. We stopped at Bryce Canyon and I swore that I'd try my best to get out there again to spend more time.

Welcome! Ask away, someone will have an answer, or some banter, or both.
