Headlight on left turns off when high beams are on

This doesn't make much sense to me, so I just got a new high beam light for my 86 Scottsdale and for whatever reason when I turn on my brights the right side works both the headlight and high beam but the left side of the truck has nothing, if I turn off my high beams the headlights both work on both sides? I need help haha

Never mind upon smacking the headlight a couple times I got it to work haha must of had a bad ground

Check the plugs on the headlight bulbs they are probably corroded. A little sand paper and or battery terminal cleaner will fix you up.
