My name is Todd. I cant remember what I was researching online, but this site came up on the list and I liked what I saw. Little bit about myself. Im 28 and have lived in Montana my entire life shy of one year spent attending Wyotech in Laramie Wyoming. I studied diesel technology while there but only worked in the field for a short time. Currently have worked as an alignment tech for the last 8 years. Always been a die hard chevy man, and have owned quite a few trucks over the years. Just recently purchased my first house on 2.2 acres with a 900 sqft finished and heated shop. (Plenty of room to work on my toys!) Now onto a little of what brought me here.
I have always admired the square chevys but my passion has been with the 69-72. I currently have 2 67s and one 72 (two parts and one builder). A coworker had purchased a 1984 K10 swb from another coworker and asked me to help him fix it up for his sons first vehicle. When we began I told him if he ever wished to sell it to come to me first. It used to be an old sherrifs truck and isnt the prettiest thing you have seen, but by far not the ugliest either. The guys at work nicknamed it Mater (from the movie Cars). He and his son changed their plans and so now I am in posession of "Mater". And so begins the tale.
I look forward to fixing up Mater and gathering information and sharing what I can with all you fine folks along the way.

Welcome- I see you are in Frenchtown MT... that is pretty much where I grew up ('85-'94). My parents still live down there. Might stop by some day and check out your trucks if you have the time.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Original plans were to make it my hauler/mobil work horse. Pull the 305 and replace with a 383, mild lift 4" maybe running the largest tire I can without trimming, 4:10 gears, and put on a flatbed. The plan for a 383 is solid I dont want to deviate from that. But everything else is up for debate and change. As it sits now I just want to get it in good driving order as it runs and drives decent but I am in need of a truck to haul and tow my flatbed.
Will get pics as soon as I can. Whats the recommended method for pics on this site. I have always used photobucket before but I havent been too impressed with how they move files around and all of a sudden pictures are viewable.

As far as what to do with pics, I've just used the garage on the site. Upload your pics and post them.

So here are a few pics of Mater. Not the greatest pics...it was pretty bright out when I took them. On the drivers door there are a couple rust holes about mid door, some rust on the left cab corner. And a few spots on the beds wheel arches. But for the most part it seems pretty straight and solid. Nothing some elbow grease cant fix.
