Where the oil temp probe is at is in the oil gallery feeding the main bearings ..
Constant moving flow of oil ...
The gauge should read pretty close to the actual temp ..

Working on nailing down a 25 row cooler ..
It may be more than what's needed, but for the dollar I'm giving for it ..
... Que Sera Sera ...

Oh.. so im confused, you want to move it or you want to have a second gauge or difference between the hot oil and returned oil?

I'll leave it where it's at ...
Do think for the most actual oil temp would be having the gauge installed near the bottom of the oil pan ...

Not wanting to drill a hole in the aluminum pan, did think about drilling a hole in the drain plug, having the wire running down the side of the pan vetoed that idea ..

But with the oil cooler on line don't think I'll be having a heat issue ..

Here's the cooler ..

Do think it may be overkill ..

  • 14.5" wide core (310mm)
  • 25 rows or 7.5" (190.5mm) core height
  • Made in Sweden
Made by Setrab

They offers some of the highest quality oil coolers on the market. Lightweight and efficient, they are an excellent choice for cooling high performance street and race engines, transmissions and differentials.

Also think having a oil temp gauge is a bit overkill too ...
That idea is just to have a visual on what's going on .. Be nice to know the conditions of vital points of the motor under high stress loads ..

I pull two trailers with this old truck ..
30' fifth wheel RV and a 16' box trailer hooked to the RV ..

Kind of looks like Jeb Clampett traded up ... Eek

5 more rows than the other cooler ..
i would simply go based on the ease of mounting in your situation, what fits better

Won't matter a great deal cause whatever cooler I come up with will need homespun brackets to be made up ..

Got all kinds of room under the radiator, being in the air flow will be a huge plus ..

A word on the oil temp gauge, coming from Canada ..
It's stuck in customs, been a few days and hasn't moved a foot ...

Wonder if Trump had a hand in this delay ??

Do think that Boy could tear up a crowbar with a rubber hammer !

I'm not much into politics, in fact my political involvement boils down to a bumper stricter ...

And it says ...
"I rather go hunting with Dick Cheney than ride with Ted Kennedy"

Update on the Canadian package ..
It's moving, made it to Syracuse, New York ..
Well, it's heading South .. Yippee
--------------------------------------
It's in Jacksonville, Fl ...

Might have it in my greasy hands tomorrow ..
Hope that it fits the spot I picked out ?
Not a lot of room in the glovebox due to it being cut down for having room for the A/C unit ...

my favorite moment of 2006 (2nd grade for me) was when the vice president of the united states mistook his buddies face while he was near him as a flightless, ground-walking quail who were unafraid of humans and shot him with birdshot

and then THAT GUY(friend) APOLOGIZED TO HIM (vice president)

"thats some real clint eastwood ****"-will farrel in the comedy special "Youre Welcome America" where he reflects on the 8 years of the bush admin pretending to be president bush
