What am i looking at?
Had the need to know the combustion chamber volume so I could order pistons that would allow for 9.5 to 1 compression ..
This motor will be 496 ci (.060" overbored & .250" more stroke (4.250") than a stock 454 .. Netting 42 more cubies ...

Dome pistons having 12 cc to the positive will do the trick ...
Shooting for .040" quench ..

I don't have a need for this motor, it'll most likely be up for sale ...

Will have the Gen VII (496 cid) on a stand tomorrow .. It too will be took apart for a look-see and clean up ..

I really should be building this one for my truck ... Already sporting 496 cubes .. Could revert back to a carb and a HEI ignition with using a Dart intake ...

This puppy ain't cheap ...

Since my Daddy isn't Bill Gates, I'll be sticking to building a Mark IV 454 ..

Not all that sure what I'll do with these two, last of the Big Blocks, engines ...

Wanting to take them apart to see if they're buildable, but it's so dang hot it's hard to stay in the shop ...

.0005" away from finish size of bore on the stroker 496" ...

Had to order 400 grit stones to do the .0005" ...

Been slightly busy on my 781 heads getting the work done installing the oversize valves ..
Since they was so huge I had to buy more tooling ..

Close to having one done, still got the port runners to contend with ..
This work is slow go cause it's very time consuming ...

Sold my bare 4-bolt block in order to buy tools to work the 781 heads ..
Really didn't want to do that but I'll find another Mark IV down the road ...
Got another 4 bolt main block nailed down. .. Wasn't very far down the road.
Tomorrow I'll go after it ..

Guessing I looked at about 30 blocks before I found this one ...
Soon to see what I bought ??

Looks to be a good, unmolested last year for the Mark IV Big Blocks ..

I got an idea ...

I'm thinking of selling my 2 bolt main 88 motorhome motor .. Going to use a set of heads off of a Gen VI on it ..
( The late model heads are a huge plus cause they up the compression (100cc chamber opposed to 118cc) and flow much better than the peanut port heads that the motor had from the factory )

If I can get $2,500 for it I'll be able to buy the stroker kit for building the 4 bolt main block I just got into a 496" ..

Any takers ??
