I've got a hood that hasn't been drilled for an emblem. My hood doesn't have a hood release in the cab, so
I guess the hood release has to be removed to drill the holes. Any helpful hints?

Never seen a square body hood with an emblem on it. What are you proposing? And the hood release doesn't block any of the hood.
Doo you mean the grille? Or hood ornament?

Sorry to confuse the issue. It is a hood ornament, that sits directly over the hood latch by the looks of it. Thanks

Can't you set a block of wood over the latch while drilling the holes in the hood?

I checked the location of the hood latch and it is directly beneath the hood support that runs
the length of the hood, so I will have to take the latch off to gain access to the hood. There
is no other way to get my fingers inside to screw the ornament on.

Same here. IIRC there's a couple of holes in the stiffener that give you access to the hood ornament nuts. If the earlier ones didn't have that provision you may have to create it.

"Stiffener", "Nuts",... how did this conversation get so dirty?

Here are a few pictures of my hood. Looks like it would be an easy fix to drill.

I taped the ornament on to see how it looks. My wife (the boss), and I agreed there was enough
going on and decided not to add it to the hood. Thanks guys.
