gas selector valve question

ive got a leak on one of my rubber fuel lines that goes from the 6 outlet selector valve to my passenger fuel tank. got all the hoses, clamps to do the job but i dont know if i need to drop my gas tank to get at the connection on my sending unit. any tricks? looking between my cab and bed the bugger is right there. taking my bed off is a no go due to only being just me doing the job with no way to lift it. and ive got 3 thick layers of herculiner in the bed so those bolts would be miserable to get out + i did such a pretty job it'd be a shame to cut it up. thanks guys. i'll be at my computer relatively all night

and is the drivers side tank in parallel with the passengers? any and all info on the whole system would be great. thanks guys..

You need to drop the tank to get at the rubber hoses. Just unbolt the tank brackets from the frame and lower it down. Don't forget to unbolt the ground wire for the sending unit. The fuel gauge sending wire (pink) can be disconnected as you are lowering the tank down, the wire just pushes onto a stud on the sending unit.

thanks bucket while im there is it a good idea to replace the o-ring for the sending unit? you think napa would have that? how does is the sending unit removed?

You shouldn't have to replace that seal, I've never seen one leak due to age. Things happen though and someone could have f'd it up in the past. The sending unit is held in with a rotating lock ring.
