Lately my fuel gauge stays at right around 3/4 no matter how much gas it has, it also stays up there when the truck isn't running.
From what I've read it seems the circuit board might have a problem? I'm just not sure where to start looking.

I never knew how inconvenient having no fuel gauge could be.

To start:

Check the ground wire (either black or blue) that runs from the sender head on the tank to a 5/16" bolt somewhere nearby on the frame. Be sure it is intact and clean and tight at its connection to the frame and the sender.

Check that the tan wire that feeds the sender has voltage when the key is in RUN.

The hot wire from the gauge to the sender is:

Pink (on... looks like 1979 + up).

On earlier models that wire is tan.

The sender ground lead (the one that connects to the frame & provides a path to ground for the variable resistor within the sender) is:

1978 and earlier - black or blue

1979 and up - either blue, light green or purple

This comes from wiring manuals not from personal observation. I am color blind and consequently often have no idea what color the wires are.
