Have you ever Seafoamed the intake? It sounds like your intake and valves have a fair amout of carbon on them to begin with and that's not going to do your plugs any good.

I have done it on both my vehicles. Actually did it to my truck yesterday. All you have to do is take the vacuum hose running into your brake booster off and pour it down that. I did my TB a year ago, it's probably ready for it again since I put 15K on it in a year.
