Front shock replacement k5

So tonight i was replacing the shocks on the truck, and the back was a breeze but the front upper mounts dont want to come off easily, has anybody had a trouble with it, and does the shaft just slide out towards the tire, thanks for the help.

I think the shaft on the top should just be a shaft and the shock slides off it towards the tire, unless someone changed it. Usually the nut rusts onto the shaft and when you try to take it off it snaps the threads off so it wouldn't be out of the question that someone changed it.
