So after having an alignment shop look at my truck last week (broken drag link and bent steering arm), they told me that my bushings are completely shot in my front leaf springs.

I was thinking I should just replace every bushing, but I dont know if this is a task that is easy enough to do in my apartment's parking structure with basic tools, or should I really have a shop replace them all for me?

Just curious for a project a little bit down the road. This weekend's project is replacing my points distributor with a MSD Pro Billet distributor with a 6A Digital box and of course new plugs, wires, and having to rewire the resistor wire from the firewall. Fun times!

The bushings arent too bad, the biggest problem is if the bolts are rusted to the metal sleeve that goes through the rubber. No harm in trying

I thought I read here somewhere you need a torch or press to remove the old ones.

ive had decent luck just cutting some of the rubber off the sides, soaking it with PB blaster, and a hammer

You have to burn the rubber out and then cut the outer sleeves out of the springs.

All of my bushings were really bad and had no problem getting them out with a couple punches and a hammer and blaster. What works easier is two sockets and a vise.

When I replaced all of my bushings, it wasn't that bad. Energy Suspension, has Polyurethane with the outside metal sleeve, so if you screw up your outer sleeve when taking them out, it is no big deal
