Free 383 for Blaze

@xm20k: A different Cam is definitely in the plan. The one that was in it was spec-ed when the engine was planned to go into the '55 street race application.

250+ duration is going to run like hell under 3k add 11:1 onto that and you have close to my 388 91-93 octane only and idling/driving part throttle especially off road it's not going to be fun. That cam has such big duration to allow that high of a CR to run on pump gas even if it is premium and it isn't going to clean up until over 3k which isn't conducive to low rpm/small throttle inputs. Hed be better off in the 220-230 range and dropping a point of compression, so it has better manners at low RPM/light throttle input. It also will not have much vacuum for the brakes one pump maybe and bye bye power assist. That's why mine has Hydro boost.

Mine is a modern roller version of his cam 252 .600 110 vs his 250 .500 110 the duration and lobe sep will act just like mine just not as much lift. It hates anything under 3k.

If the 76cc heads he owns are used off the crate on this 383 it will lower the compression. And I mentioned a new cam.

My bad forgot he had the 76 cc heads and yes that would be the route I'd go add a summit roller for under 400 a set of link bar lifters and some pushrods all in around a 1-1.5k using the other heads and roller tip rockers off the current heads.

Sell the unused parts or trade for a dual plane intake and a 650-700 cfm carb.

880 block, wont even need link bar lifters. Just the dog bones, the spider and cam retainer plate from a factory setup.

Ordered most of the parts today. Going with the 383 but with the Heads, Intake & Carb off the 350 Crate Motor. Comp Cams recommended their 08-413-8 Hydraulic Roller Cam. 220°/224° Duration, 0.474" Lift on both. Lobe separation of 111°. I'll have to measure for the Push Rod length. I'm guessing that I'll have about 385 Horsepower and 425 ft-lbs peak power. We'll see how it goes.

Should I use the 1.5:1 ratio Rockers from my 350 Crate Motor or the 1.6:1 Ration Roller Rockers that were on the 383?
