Hey, they're not lying. Ford does have relaible rear ends. The famous 9 inch is used in tons and tons of applications for it's strength and not only that, racers love them for the drop out 3rd member and quick gear swaps. However, I think the photo above, they're talking about different rear ends. The 9 inch means something a bit different too.

Full size Dodge had passenger car Dana 60's but they are also not drop out 3rd member so this makes Ford 9in easier to find and the advantage of setting up 2 drop outs for quick gear swaps. 1 for racing 1 for highway driving. We used to carry our race rearend when we drove a long way. Put the 3.08 peg legger in to drive to San Diego, then swap the 4.56 posi in the ElCo, Race all weekend, then swap back to the 3.08 and drive it home. The 3.08 was a 10 bolt, the 4.56 was a 12 bolt.

Sure did. The full size cars like the Road Chickens, Sattelites, Coronets, GTX, Chargers. The smaller cars like the Darts and Dusters used the 8.3/4 in drop out 3rd member axles and they are tough too, but yeah Dana 60 in the Chrysler big cars. Late 60's and early to mid 70's cars is best place to look. They'll have the large Dodge bolt pattern axle which is same as Ford pattern.

Well yeah, that was the only way to ensure you weren't going to be pushing it home.
