Well i did some research and it turns out my "new" oil pan does in fact require the "thick" FEL PRO gasket, so I found one local and the oil is draining now.

While I was under there, I noticed fresh oil on both sides headers. Shined the light on the back of the valve covers, ran my finger around them and sure enough, leaking, again.

First it was the black rubber gaskets that came with the covers, then the cork with permatex sealant, and now the 75 dollar FEL PRO blue with steel core and I'm just at a loss on what to do next. I just don't know.

These work for me. They're like 2 regular valve cover gaskets bonded together with a steel core so they hold their shape. I glue em to the cover with some Hylomar. YMMV

Well I figured maybe I over torqued them or something so I took them off, cleaned the surfaces and the gasket, bought new Grade 8 1/4 x 1" bolts, and some special locks and washers that fit snug that were from a machine screw box at the hardware store. The bolts i used previously were cheap junk I had, some I cut down and some I didn't. I think at least one was too long and some of them were twisted and deformed so I got all new. The same length as the chinesium ones the covers came with. I didn't torque them down so hard this time so hopefully that helps.

Got the new FEL PRO gasket in for the oil pan. Pain in the butt....Haven't cranked it yet. Friend comes tomorrow to put the windshield back in. Dropping 30 degrees Monday so I've been working on the heater. The new fan wheel I bought off LMC was warped and too tall so I sourced a new one (with blower motor) at Autozone and it went in fine. Works good with the new "OldAir.com" heater switch/cable, however, the switch doesn't want to stay on the speed you turn it to, kind of like its in a bind and turns itself off so I have to play with that.

I hooked up the new choke cable in the original spot on the dash with the new factory style knob.

Got a lap-belt in the middle of the seat, for a third person. I think I'm going to try to recover that seat myself. Put the gun rack back in, after cleaning it up. They are super sought after, and kind of redneck, but I can tell its been in the truck probably since the 60's based on the ancient flat blade screws that was holding it in. I put it back, but I plan on making the rear glass super dark so you wont see it from outside the truck. I bought the $170 dollar new blinker assembly for the column and installed it, now the blinker lever is super crisp and I'm not having random blinking. Plus, one of the 3 mounting spots inside was broken off so the column only had 2 screws holding it together. Now it has 3.

I changed the plastic fuel filter down by the header to a metal one up by the intake

Next project is floorboards and rockers, then sound deadening and carpet. Thinking black seat, carpet and headliner. To match the sun visor lol

I have that 7 quart oil pan with all my fresh oil in it and I needed both hands to pour it back in so I duct taped the funnel up and it worked great lol.
