Does anyone know if the fan shrouds for 81-87 c/k trucks are different depending on whether or not you have a/c?
I found this:
http://www.dynacorn.com/ShowItem.aspx?item=1119YA
It says it is for trucks w/o a/c but I’ve never seen one for sale that says it’s for an a/c truck.
My k10 has a 350 and a/c
Just wondering if it’ll fit before I get one

I believe it has to do with radiator size and thickness/condenser, your shroud won't mount properly if you don't have the right combo like my truck is right now lol

I don’t know exactly why GM made it so complicated, but LMC and other catalogs list quite a few different shrouds for different years and models. Also, some are two piece, and others are one large shroud.

My ‘75 K25 with HD cooling has a one piece shroud. I assume it’s sized to fit a thicker radiator and a 7 blade fan with thermostatic fan clutch. The thicker radiator moves the mounting point a little horizontally, and the thick fan clutch moves the blades out farther into the shroud. I’m not sure if the fan diameter is larger.

My point is that for the most effective cooling the shroud has to match the rest of the cooling system. However, a slightly off-sized shroud would probably still work okay as long as it’s clear of the fan blades.
