electric window motor

just replaced my drivers side window motor. dont have any skin left on knucles. but at least it is done

Haha, nah. I just know I thought the window motor was bad on my old '86 and I about crapped a brick when I saw how hard it was to get to. Turned out to be the switch though thank god.

I've done the front window motors a few times and didn't think it was very hard? The '88 Burb needs a new RR window motor, I've been putting it off because it looks like a bitch.

Really? Seems like my '86 had a really small access hole and the motor was way down in the bottom of the door and riveted in. Maybe they're not as hard to change as they look.

Here's what I recall...

Remove door panel, remove inside handle and little support brackets, tape up window to keep from falling, unbolt regulator assembly, slide regulator arm off of glass channel, lift regulator up and out of door enough to unplug motor, then remove assembly from door. Drill out small rivets holding motor to regulator, then replace motor and instal with bolts.

Close Bucket. If your truck has the lower cover on the door you can drill the door skin, drill out the rivets and remove the motor and not have to remove the regulator at all. Oops, almost forgot you still need to secure the glass before removing the motor.

What's a real damn bitch is when you just want to repace the wiring harness. It appears I'm going to have to remove the motor just to get to the door plug to make the replacement and I'll have to do this 4 times. 2 on the donor truck, get the harnesses, then 2 more to install them. I want my windows working on my K1500. Thank God for Wing windows and rear sliding glass. Light colored interior works too. But, I've driven the C20 most of the summer when I didn't drive the roll back.
