Edelbrock WTH!?!

Driving around for hours...life is good. Parked for a while and went out again. Got about 2 blocks, smelled glass horribly and truck died. Wouldn't start up. Pulled air cleaner and watched gas pouring out passenger side where choke spring tab sits and then gas bubbling out drivers side metering rod cover. Wth!?!

Waited a few minutes started and turned corner then died. Waited a few min and gave it hell home...coasted the last block.

Today took rebuild kit, redid every gasket and carb cleaner in every orifice and tube. Checked for air flow on every tube too. Reassembled. Runs fine all day without any issues yet. Also replaced pump shot. All old gaskets looked fine.

WTH!?!

Edelbrocks are sensitive to heat. How hot was it by you today? Was it the heat of the day when this happened? Do you have an insulating spacer between the carb and the manifold?

I had to get the phenolic spacer 4 years ago when I bought the truck due to vapor lock. No such issues since then and we've had 4 years of hot summer days without this sudden issue.

Clogged return line from the fuel pump to the fuel tank could cause over-pressure to the carb and be pushing fuel out anywhere it can escape. Check the rubber portions of your return line to see how old it is and how good it looks.

Runs fine now. What a strange deal. Must have been some gunk or bad gasket that created my issue. Good to go for over a week now,
