Some good info here. I wasn't a bit surprised. Granted, cam choice will also affect which one is best for your use.

Cool man that's pretty much the direction I was going with my next build, either the RPM or Weiand Stealth. Still gotta figure out what CR/cam spec is going to work well together though. Good vid HR! :waytogo:

Curt, that is the reason I am using the cam I have. It works well in the same power band has the intake. I have been satisfied with the performance but if I were doing it over I would use the iron vortec heads, mine have too much compression which limits the selection of fuel. I have to run 91 octane or higher or it will detonate with these aluminum heads.

Don't be so sure that Vortec heads would fix your detonation problem either. What I've found with research, Normally with aluminum heads you can get by with .5-1 point higher in compression and not have detonation over cast iron. So if the iron vortecs drop you a point, you might still detonate because they're iron. Not so sure why this is that aluminum can run higher comp with lower octane, but I can only assume its because of lower cylinder temperature. I'm not the expert in that area. You actually might benefit from going with a bigger cam. More valve overlap will bring down the dynamic compression ratio and bring down your octane requirement, and still have the better performance. Where is your motor discussion? I'm curious what you have in it. :rockit:

I think it because they dissapate heat better.
I wish they would start these tests with stock OEM Cast Iron Manifolds, or do TBI, tests, starting with the stock aluminum TBI Manifolds, instead of Aftermarket from the starting gate.

yes, that's my assumption, dissipating the heat fast cuz they are aluminum will lower combustion chamber temp.
