Just getting ready to paint my 78 Gmc but
I'm undecided on whether or not to take
all the badges off including the band around the cab.
I'm leaning towards getting new badges but just
wondering if you guys could help me with this
decision. Thanks Zack from Canada.

I replaced my fender emblems and up to this point I've left the band that goes around the cab off. At first I was going to leave the badges off but it just didn't look right. Eventually I'll put the band around the cab back in too actually. The newer trucks look great debadged but IMO older iron unless highly customized look better with badges.

I toyed with this idea. my emblems are shoot so my deciding factor was the damn cost of the things i refuse to pay that much just for badges. so im leaving mine off. I mean the scottsdale emblem for mine is 50 dollars to me that is ridiculous as hell

Half of mine fell off from rust or adhesive failure. I'm losing all the body mouldings on the sides and the fender well trim. Too many places IMO for a daily driver in the rust belt that can be a starting point for cancer. The 2 badges on the barn doors fell off but I saved them. They might wind up on the front sides in the middle like on the 07'ish Burbs/Yukons. Lose the red center and go all charcoal on the body and black the rims out.

Thanks guys for your input. The badges stay! I'm going to paint it GM white and leave the body panels or trim off and black out the rims . Will post pictures when I get it done.
