I went out last week and and realized my crew cab is just to much on the trails. Only got stuck once but it was stuck. I plan to pull out the lift and drop it to 6 inch lift. My 16 inch lift is gonna go in my single cab and my 39s. My question is if I swap out the d60 for 44 and 14bolt for smaller one will I have any issues. Am gonna run 35s and I want it to be just for driving and hauling water. First thought are its lighter and will improve fuel and my axles will be geared higher. 1tons have 4.56s witch are perfect with 39s but run around 2800 at 100km with 35s

do you beat your truck, that's the first question you have to ask

a d60 is the best front axle for a reason, and d44 breaks all the time under heavy use for a reason

just saying

I cant comment on axle strength of the 44 front but there are numerically lower ratios than 4.56 as well which might be a better match for 35's too. Maybe 4.10's? The cheapness of 14 bolt axles almost makes me say just find another 14 bolt with a more suitable ratio instead of downgrading to a 10 or 12 bolt.
