Courtesy light, cigarette sockets

1982 k20 suburban woth 6.2 diesel.
The radio doesn't work, and I'm tired of kareeoking in my truck. I'm tryna get my cigarette lighter sockets going so i can charge an mo3 player and Bluetooth speaker in a semi-permanent setup.

I know I'll get " check the wiring diagram" folks I'd love to. The previous owner(s) chopped this thing up, i trace a wire and it change colour like 3 times.

My tools include multimeter, and voltage test light

Theres a bunch of circuits that have 12
V circuits that have power.
One of which is the courtesy light,
Shown here purchasable from summit etc...i dont even know where it goes, if anybody has it set up properly I'd love to see your setup
Now, ill jist explain what's what here, there's 4 wires, 2 per group

1st group: Orange wire and white wire take off taped up (badly) and I lose it under the steering column...I image it's a power wire, (orange) and the white is no clue..

And the two white wires go to driver side door grommet, and passenger side door grommet.
I dont have the buzzer (cicadas) woth key on, either that's been removed or doesn't work.

I have 12volts at this light plug at all times. Doors open doors closed. Key on, ACC, Run, and engine running. I put a bulb in, and nothing, so bad grounds?

I think the door jams are the grounds, but how the heck do I remove these grommets to inspect them, or check them? And if orange wire is power, (12v) whats the other white wire, buzzer???

And what's the correct function of a light like this? Is it like modern cars where when door is open the light turns on?

I have a dome light, that ONLY works when I turn the light switch dial to click on that's it, stays on until intirn dial other way.

Im useless at electrical and any help is appreciated. And where would a courtesy light like this bolt up to?

Honestly, I would get a Painless replacement wiring harness.
I have used Painless for my twin rad fans and their harnesses are awesome.
Each wire is printed labeled along its length.
The best wiring harness I have ever used.

Personally, I would grab one if my harness ever went south. And it would be worth every nickle.

The door switch gets constant 12V from the orange wire. When you open the door, the switch grounds, completes the circuit and powers the courtesy light

I envy the guys that have clear n clean fuse blocks coz mine is a mess.
When I tore the cluster out, I heard a fuse pop. And when I checked em all I was ok. And there's these plugs just stuck in the fuse block. Honestly whenever I try to organize the wires a bit, like the cigarette lighter, I toss in an inline fuse holder jist coz I don't know if it's one of those sketchy plugs.

Yep, I've got that ground in my sight, it's a ce tral bolt with 6 or 8, I forget now, but basically male ends for a female spade connector. So I'll crimp on fresh connectors and typically run them there.

Cigarette lighter ive got it figured out luckily.
That that painless harness thing could be in the future for me.
Theres so many things I mean intraced a lot of it so I figured out a lot of itnjust by tracing lines. But if yall saw this thing it's like wtf happened. The radio man. I dont think Tony stark and Jarvis could unFugg this thing.

Hahaha, ill snap a pic of the wire nest, it's unreal.
Worst part man, some dude was getting rid of old cassettes, coz who has a cassette player anymore, a sweet case full of tapes. So I pick that up, he's got mortal kombat movie soundtrack, in my opinion the best Metallica album, ride the lightning, along with all the other albums, and all sorts of sick tapes, with the album art innthe little fold out...
Anyways, got it. Set up in my truck and it doesn't work! It was literally working like 3 days prior.
I've got the Scottsdale trim package so literally 1 speaker onnthe dash. Probably wouldnt be able to hear it anyway.

...now i feel like watching iron man again lol

Including both sides of the firewall and modern fuses plus alot of extra connections for upgrades.

Thats wicked, coz i mean, it's bad innthere. The fuseblock is a mess. Even the heater has been cannibalize. I've had to solder my glow plug harness both sides. Man what a pain, any diesel drivers out there, glow plugs aren't a "nice to have" they are *necessary* especially with IDIs...

Luckuly my electrical issues don't really affect driveability, its more creature comforts, radio, lights, gauges, etc...well not etc. Thats a bout it. Lol it's pretty spartan in there.

you could buy a whole new fuse box

LMC truck catalog, and other similar.
