Since my square is not my DD, I haven't had time to fix it.

Truck shifts fine when cold while engine is turned off.

Crank truck up and it wont go in or out of gear. If trucks runs, and then I cut it off, and try and put it in gear it does not just "fall into" gear, it is somewhat difficult to put into gear, so I have been chocking the wheels.

Naturally, to me it seems to be a hydraulic issue. I looked at the dot 3 and it was black, which makes me think maybe a seal has blown somewhere maybe in the slave cylinder....

Any ideas?

If you lost a seal you should have a leak. Maybe the master cylinder?

Is it holding fluid? How's the pressure on your clutch pedal?

It is holding fluid, but it is black in color. Clutch pedal is noticeably softer, but I can still press it with some resistance.

Has it been that way since you have owned it? If it's holding all its fluid it's not leaking, but you may need to bleed the air at the slave cylinder.

I have owned the truck about 5 years. I've had the master and slave replaced once about three years ago. I assume I need to bleed the air, since it is not leaking fluid.
