I removed a 2" body lift from my 1976 C10 and now the Edelbrock valve covers touch the firewall. The truck came with a SB but I felt a BB would look better. I used both the chassis and motor mounts from the SB when I installed the BB. Do I need to replace the chassis brackets to a BB application or the rubber motor mounts. Carb surface is sitting at approximately 5 degrees trans end down. Tia, Rick.

Maybe swap to another type of valve covers. Or put some speed dents in your current ones. Might use speed dents for the firewall, as a last resort.

Speed dents…great advice….just kidding.
@BBCfan, either sum ting wong or you have extra tall valve covers. Or a tall deck motor and don’t know it.

Something weird is going on here setting bbc stuff down with sbc hardware is common practice. Check your transmission output shaft angle against the pinion angle, maybe the transmission rear needs to/or can come up.

Post some pics of the engine bay, mounts, engine, etc. Swapped a 454 from a 72 chevelle in a friends 77 K5 in a day without any modifications. We reused the sbc motor mounts.

What's the spacing between the cab and bed look like? Is it even and fairly close? Is there a big gap or is it angled away at the top more than the bottom etc.?

About 25-28 feet. LOL. Rolling Chassis on east side of the barn and bed standing on end on the west side. The valve covers are taller than need be to accommodate valve train but I mostly like the looks. Just seems to be ALOT of room between the cross member and oil pan. Worst case scenario I use a hammer to create space then make it look pretty. Cab supports are new , matched the originals for size and body mounts are new.

Unbolt the transmission mount. Raise the rear of the transmission 1/2 inch. Is the problem gone?

I have swapped a 305 for a 502 and a 350 for a 454. Used the small block mounts on both with no clearance issues. I agree with the trans mount may be the issue.

Swapped the tall cast Edelbrocks with a shorter set of Edelbrocks. Problem is now between the posi locks and new valve covers. I made a separate post about this. Looked it over with a clear head. If the motor sat any lower the headers wouldn't clear the chassis.
