I plan on adding carpet to my 82 k10 manual. Any places you recommend or stay away from? Also do I need both sound deadening and heat shield or is one ok?

If you want it to be silent and cool you need both.
ACC offers a mass packing option for the carpets.

Has anyone bought from oc auto carpets? That’s another place I was told about. Them and lmc. I just know how well the molded carpets fit. I’ve heard/seen acc mentioned a lot.

ACC is the only carpet I've ever used. I just make sure to go through someone that carries the correct color. I always get the mass backed as well for extra insulation

Yes I got mine through OC auto carpets. I got it with the mass backing. Very happy with it. I also put down Kilmat sound deadener and Dynaliner thermal barrier. I also learned a great way to make the holes in the carpet for seat frame bolts, seat belt bolts etc. After the carpet is laid down, I tool an awl, heated it up with a torch, and stuck it through the holes from underneath. Then on the top side, I took an old socket of the size hole I wanted to make in the carpet, heated that up with a torch, and pushed it over the awl, burning a perfect hole where it needs to be. Another vote for ACC…

I couldn’t find a picture of the tool I made for the carpet holes but, I just sharpened the edge of a piece of pipe. I backed it up with a scrap of 2x4 and smacked it with a hammer. Used an awl to mark the center pulled it out right before punching each of the holes.

I had made a few different sizes of sharpened pipe that I used to punch holes in the killmat but only needed one for the carpet holes.

Leaning that way towards Lisa’s lowrider. Gravel driveway, live on a hobby farm, sw TN weather is strange. Can be in the 70s during the day, snowing at night from November to March… Currently doing sound/heat barriers in the cab.

I am doing an ACC carpet from Rockauto in my 85 burb right now. Spend the money on the mass backing, I went the cheaper route without mass backing and it makes the install much more difficult. To help with any of the pre-formed sections that need more forming go get some free sandbags and drop them on the carpet and let them sit overnight or longer. That helped the carpet really suck down into every nock and cranny. Ill echo everyone else on the hole punching, I used a screwdriver heated up and punched the initial hole from the bottom. From the top side I had a 1/2" dia metal tube that I would heat up and use to burn the holes that looked just like factory. Last piece of advice is to start poking the holes in the center of the cab first and bolt those items down first and then work your way out.

Would you mind posting pics of your process? I plan to do my burb at some point in the not so distant future, and pics of ACC carpet installs in suburbans are few/far between.
