This is kinda related to lifted springs and springs in general. My brother is having a problem on his truck where he cant get the bushings our of the rear springs. What do ya'll do to bushings out? he needs his truck running soon...

Torch them. Try to keep a lot of the heat off the springs but torch the rubber till it is pliable enough to dig out or drive out with a large drift. Be careful you dont get melted rubber splatter on you (or him whoever is doing the work).

Will a bench press work or you still got to heat it up/burn it out?

They get rusted in there pretty good on a 25+ year old truck, a torch is the best way I've seen to soften them up and get them out. I guess if you didnt have a torch you could drill it in several places around the center bushing, that might make it loose enough to knock or press them out.
