Thru all my years and project cars/trucks,I’ve never had a proper sorted system.

I figured the idea of my 74 c10 is just to be a cruiser so why not give it some good sound!

I still have the stock stereo in the dash. I went ahead and 3d printed a single din holder to mount my modern head unit in the glove box. Figuring I can control it all from my phone it doesn’t hurt to hide the head unit!

Went with kicker 6x9 with component tweeters and cross overs for the rear speakers.

Snagged a classic car stereos kicker CS dash speaker with dual 2.5’s in it.

The truck came with a jvc head unit but I figured with everything else being new. I would go with a clarion head unit marine grade just for added protection from any moisture etc

The previous owner had a dual 8in self powered sub behind the center of the rear seat. I think I’m ether going to go with a sleek beneath the seat powered sub or see if my buddy will build be a small enclosure to go back behind the seat so I can use the kicker amp I also bought.

Pretty excited to have a crisp sounding setup in the truck!

I’ve given thought to doing lower kick panel speakers as well.

I’m looking on feed back for those who have done em and which setups they are running.

My only fear is I’ll put a foot thru it one day

I'd want the front dash speakers in the corners if your dash pad is perforated there. The holes are already in the dash. You just need brackets from a dash in a junkyard. I just got a set for my K10 that didn't have dash speakers.

I’ll have to check. Almost certain though my new dash pad doesn’t have the perforation except for the center speaker

I've got the two small speakers, 3-4", mounted in the center dash area.
Basic 6x9s in the cab corners.
They work fine, certainly not audiophile quality, but fine for me.

There is a member on here that hid the head unit and had the original in the dash. He did this in his 76 or 77 suburban. Trying to recall his username. Pretty slick what he did

70s squares are center hole only in dash. I believe. Hence the speakers @Burkee1483 used

Door panel or kick panel speakers will obviously make it much louder.
I’d give what ya got a try first though and maybe try to get 4” in the dash like bucket said. Good ones will take double the power of the 2.5s at least.
4 Good speakers, enough power, tuned right and a decent sub to keep the rear speakers out of the low frequency game make a pretty good combo for a little tin can truck cab.

For the sub I’m gonna go with this 8inch from kicker . Should match well with the amp

Boom boom
I would bump it up to the 10” Comp RT just because. Well you know, more bump. Lol, love mine. It hits pretty good in the cab but not to crazy.

Yes, just bought some cheap carpet from Amazon and used 3M spray adhesive on the MDF board. Also carpeted the cheap metal corner speaker boxes from EBay for the 6x9s

I like it! I need to order more 10mm foam sound deadening like I’ve been using for the front I’ll add that roll of carpet to it as well. With the full length black vinyl flooring I got. A little bit of carpet will be nice lol

Right on. I used closed cell foam overhead and used Kilmat throughout the cab and inside the doors. The carpet does make for a cleaner finish for the amp rack. I used some cheap pods from EBay as well up front. Had to do some modification to make them work but for $40 they was worth it.
