My brake lights seem to come on randomly. But if I pull on the brake lever they will go off. Is there supposed to be a return spring on the brake lever assembly or is my master cylinder unit just that wore out?

IMO, the pedal should return ALL the way up. Every time.
Can’t provide a solution as I haven’t had to mess with that on really any vehicle in many moons.
But do a little snooping and observe what’s going on. Seems plausible there’s a little play in the old master cyl or may need a little bleeding?
