Well you know that there is a huge 4 door scene with all the "tuners"! Many of them are 4 door because they are so light it doesn't matter how many doors you have, add them up and they weigh a pound of plastic and Alum. I've always liked four doors because more of your friends you can pack in there. And if the guy riding shotgun is passed out having that extra door means you can hop out at the 7-11 and take a pee if you need to without disturbing him!

And if you end up having to live out of your car, do you know how uncomfortable it is trying to stretch out in the front seat with buckets? At least with a back seat of a 4 door you can get more comfortable than you can with the steering wheel, the stick shift messing you up all night! Unless you've got the back seat of a Mustang which is NO back seat, I know.
I lived out of a Datsun 280 for a while, it sucked bit worked enough. I have also lived out a full size truck with bench seat and a few 4 door sedans, it's never comfortable sleeping in a car no matter how you look at, a back seat (especially in a smaller car like a Nova) ain't big enough to stretch out in. Only semi comfy rig to sleep in is the 'burb but even that gets hot ans stuffy, wouldn't want to have to do it for more than a weekend of camping. Don't buy a "cool" car with homelessness in mind lol. I would always prefer a 2 door for my "cool" car regardless of practicality, even when I was of the age of only having one car and needing to make it work for every situation. 4 doors isn't terrible, but I would much prefer 2 if I was trying to have something cool or fun. See: "I let practicality take over when i bought my Burb instead of a K5, now I want a K5 too..."

I told you it wouldn't be long before Brian was back over here to work on his car...

The new wheels and tires make it look far tougher than the puny little 14's could ever muster.

The new to the car Hyundai Tiburon seats and all the adjustability they offer, pulled from the junkyard for a whole $60 and well worth it.

Here we have a fresh budget Tach and 3 gauge panel that have added some sort of informational feedback as well as the B&M ratchet shifter to command the transmission.

The wheels and tires are off the rear as the Cherry Bomb has developed a weird droning noise that is quite unappealing.
So they came over and tried several of the mufflers out that we have here at the house, a Flowmaster delta 40, a Magnaflow, and a Jones Flow Pack were all tested.
The Jones Flowpack was the victor as it was easy to fit with a simple adapter and some welding.
Here you see the temp mock up of the Flowmaster.

Here is the old cherry bomb and its spare parts exhaust that was fitted to the car like a glove.
It worked like a champ, but sounded like tr-ass-h.

The new permanent-temporary set up is a JFP with a 3 inch extension welded on.
To keep the hot exhaust from blowing straight onto the brake drum, we devised a simple solution of just hacking it off at a 45 degree angle and rewelding it back on to angle it out. This is just before it was all tightened up and properly hung.

So the transmission that was just put in, self-removed the reverse gear.

A call was put in to the builder and he will take care of it.
The boys have to pull it back out and take it to him.
That happened yesterday and we will take it down to the builder later this week.

This time, they just pulled the whole engine and transmission out.
Last time just the trans came out from the bottom and it sucked is what I was told...

Whelp.
Schedules never aligned.
Brian has crappy parental influences that have pushed him into a car loan that will be tough to keep up with.
After the pressure they put on him he caved and purchased a 2016 Scion TC for a daily driver.

Last week he sold the Nova back to the junkyard for a massive $250.
Sad day.

But I did have Max go and pull all the good parts off it to get the money out of it that Brian owed him from buying parts for it. Max got the wheels and tires plus a ton of the speed parts back off of it.
The $1000 transmission is sitting in storage as well.

The 250 six had some terrible sparkles in the oil too.

@Maxwellvis has a buddy Brian.
Brians home life has not been the best, but he is a good kid.
He currently drives a VTec Honda Civic and is not real fond of it.

The three of us were going to the junkyard yesterday to look for some stuff.
I had no agenda other than finding gold in what ever car I could find.
Max was after a set of seats from a Hyundai Tiburon that he will fit into the '73 VW he now owns.
Brian wanted a front fender for said Honda as he was backed into the other day and it was bent all to hell.

We went in and paid the entry fee and the boys noticed the Nova sitting in the complete cars for sale row just outside of the doors.

We all oogled it and poured over the whole car, there is some rust and little things that need to be taken care of over time.
But that does not stop it from running and driving.

Pop the hood and there is a greasy but very original 250 straight six backed up by a 3 speed auto (I suspect a TH350).
This car is 100% original and has not been molested at all.
It came with AC but the compressor was long ago removed, that is the biggest change to it that we had found.

It is a Concours level trim package (think Silverado).
Inside there are bucket seats and a console shifter for the transmission.

The yards asking price was a cool $1999.
The boys were trying to figure out how to find that money.
I told them they are going to let you haggle the price down just like I did on a $200 set of wheels and tires I bought there last year for $120.
So Brian offered $1200 and that was rejected and a counter of $1300 was made.
That was accepted and now I have another car in my driveway until Brian is able to get the title transferred to his name.
He will pay me back when his Honda get sold after the insurance companies do their things due to that lady that backed into him.

We got the car home and it ran and drove just fine all the 5 miles it had to go.
The kids then went up to the auto parts store that Max works at and bought the car all new belts, hoses, and other tune up parts.

After all that was installed, they washed all the grime off the car and this is what we bought...

He is welcomed into the hot rod community with open arms...until I noticed a 2 year old post! Maybe he'll get straightened out.
