A 4l80e is basically a th400 with lockup and overdrive. If your gearing/tire situation is as such, you just drop it back into third and it’s no different than a 400, but you still get lockup. With lockup that helps control trans temp, which is a good thing if you are towing. Both are 1:1 in third.
If you are going LS the harness/computer is pretty much ready to go for running an electronic transmission. These days the information/resources for swapping an 80E is so plentiful and supported there really isn’t any reason not to.
