I'm trying to find this chrome molding so when the two tone paint is done there is a separation between them. All I can find is the single straight. Anybody have a link/lead?

The front fender contours are different where that trim lays.

What he said.

Scott,
The front fenders are different. 80 was the last year of the buldged fenders as I call it. 81-87 has fenders that return to the front instead of that contour that follows the curve of the trim. Look close at the two fender styles infront of the wheel well to the front of the truck and you will see what we're talking about.

Looks like the paint also runs higher up on the body than the first Gen body and fenders.

Yep, they did. Then the paint line moved back down to the body crease for the '89-'91 Suburbans and K5's.

Bummer. I really don't like the way the 81-87 is done. I think if we stick with it a stripe will be done all the way around, maybe in charcoal to match the interior.

The quote wouldn't put the pic inline so I had to copy the url but here I do see the difference...

I am going to cut out some of the front of the 81 to 90 that is different and weld in a 73 to 80 part of the fender now I can run the early side trim and still mach the hood and grill.

That's way too much work for us and I definitely won't pay for it to be done, but it will look good! Post pics when done.

That's going to be more involved than you realize.

Thanks for everyone's input.
For reference and those finding this in the future these pictures are labeled incorrectly. They are reversed, 2-tone gmc is the newer style 81-91 and the solid blue is the older round eye style 73-80.

Indeed, can't just cut it in half and splice together. Area around lights (both), lower section and the mounts are different between them as well.

You are right and I have corrected it in the original post.

One guy just offered a pair of -76 front fenders to me. Do they fit to my -82?

No, the hood hinges, radiator support, Bumper, grille, moldings headlights etc. are different. The swap can be done but it's a lot of work.
