blower motor intermittent?

hello everyone, my name is Michael. I'm new to the group and I'm looking for some help on my 1991 sqaurebody suburban v2500 5.7 ac truck
it works only sometimes.
i replaced the relay under the hood and it didnt work.
red wire has power i tested the ground i directly connected the red wire to the blower and it worked i put it on the orange wire on the ac control wires got power i tested the dark blue wire and it also got power? anybody know what might cause this ill film something and attach a link to it

I had an intermittent blower issue develop suddenly and swore it was the blower switch. Found this burned ignition switch contact to really be the culprit. Accidentally wiggled a wire while pulling the dash is how I caught this.

I have factory rear air and suspect this terminal has to do with energizing both blowers.

Without changing anything, or on different speeds?
Attached is the wiring diagram and basic diagnostic tests. - maybe they will help.

the orange wire @Goldie Driver mentions, feeds the HTR/AC fuse.

FWIW your blower has 2 power sources I for lower speeds through the resistor a seperate for high speed,I believe that's the one that goes through the relay. The switch controls power to the resistor and signal to the relay. I'd test my new relay and check pin out. If it checks good I'd be looking at power to and through the switch.

you know i had this smoke come out of the steering wheel on startup but the smoke would go away after about 30 seconds. it stopped at some point I wonder if that's it?

The ignition switch is at the lower portion of the column under the dash. It is possible that was your smoke, but I would think if it smoked it would more be around the metal cover in the bottom of the dash or the floor area.

But, you never know, and I never had smoke.

Any functions on the column not working?

as far as i know everything else works other than the rear window but that's cause its off the rails and no window motor in it we bought it like that

I had the blower motor resistor cause me intermittent blower issues last summer. first on high only, and then on other speeds. i had power at the resistor. it was intermittent and i could wiggle the resistor around and it would work sometimes. even when the high speed is connected, i think the trigger for high speed relay still goes through the resistor harness. I got a replacement from Rock Auto (might have been four seasons, I couldn't find a AC Delco at the time). all good after that.

i cut 3 wires behind the hvac control and wired them together and it works good now i hooked up the 2 brown/white wire and the brown wire together and it works on all settings
