I paid $800 for my 1980 K25 in complete, non-rusted condition. It hadn't been on the road in a lot of years, but it was all there and wasn't seized up. $800 for something that is missing the entire drivetrain(which is most of the price in these) and doesn't even have a way to steer or stop it is crazy. I would offer the guy $250 and work from there... like others have said, he's willing to drive 1 1/2 hours to deliver it because no one else wants it for anywhere near that price. If it was a 4wd, and had a drivetrain, then maybe....

Okay I see what you guys are saying, I'm saying a example just like it but with engine and trans is gonna be 2500. Will I put that in putting parts in? Yes, but journey not destination thing. And I haven't bought a square before, but this is one I'd like to finish because it's complete in the areas mine isn't and the parts it needs are things I have or wouldn't have a hard time getting. And like I said, 2wd instead of 4wd is a bonus here. It also has roof markers and is yellow.. those aren't so common :(

500 dollars around here here you a frame and axles. Maybe a decent box without major damage. Maybe an okay cab. 850 for all 3 doesn't seem outrageous in comparison? Then also having a title, body, complete beside the 4 big items, and isn't rotted out. You guys I know live where these are cheap and abundant but not everyone can travel 6 hours one way to buy a truck. Plus I can actually wrench in a truck because I will have chosen it and I don't have to tie up my snow plow :(

Go for it, if it's what you really want to do. Better still if you can go down there and check it out, throw an offer at him.

No, you can have the 170 flathead 6 and borg warner automatic drive transmission from my '51 Studebaker. That ought to move a big truck like that.

I agree, you need to snag it. You should offer 600 Washington's for it.

Some folks negotiate differently when its a female, but if he's like me, I've had way too many females demand I treat them the same as anyone else. Now, I don't even think twice, no mater what the gender or what they identify as.
