Greetings all! I've been into square bodies and 'wheeling for 15 years or so. I spend most of my forum time on a certain, shall we say, less congenial rock crawling site, and that type of tech is great, but I'm in the process of doing a bare frame restification to my '78 K30 SRW and thought this might be a helpful place to find some of the more '73-'87 specific restoration and factory type info.

For instance, I'm currently trying to figure out how to adapt the factory A/C from my thoroughly hashed '76 K25 to the non-A/C cab on my '78 K30. I've already found some good info and pics here, but any additional info or links would be greatly appreciated, particularly regarding the wiring and tapping into the non-A/C cab's harness. Of course, maybe this isn't the place. If not, then I'll just leave it at:

Thanks, and I just might, but I've actually found answers to most of my questions just digging through threads. You guys have some great info on this site! The pics and exploded parts schematics 89suburban, chengny, and others posted up in this thread:

http://www.gmsquarebody.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4809

were particularly useful.

I also discovered the cheap door striker fix. That looks awesome and I'll definitely be trying it. I've owned and/or worked on a lot of these trucks over the years, and I never knew there was supposed to be a bushing on the striker (I've never seen one still on there). I always just assumed the design of the latch was poor since they all seem to need to be slammed shut. I've used the electrical tape method, but it doesn't last too long and gets to looking ratty. Thanks again, this place is great.

Plus, you've got a terrific selection of smilies!

I get compliments all the time on my ugly trucks about how well my doors open and close. I usually keep a set of pieces of pex with me in my trucks. They make great pieces to have when someone comes up and talks to you about your trucks or you talk to them about theirs and when they open their door, or if it rattles you can fix it on the spot and without a doubt you have a new friend.
