Going down the road yesterday ( late 12:30 ish ) and i hear the fwap fwap fwap of a belt jumping ship which struck me as odd because when i did the WP about 6 months ago i did the idler pulley, tensioner and serp belt..
After waiting for a tow finally got the beast home..Come this A.M. i am out there under the hood and the belt is laying the motor with the very last groove next to the engine pulled apart..Its hard to miss how do you pull apart JUST the last groove. Was not cut by anything that looks completely different.
So i checked everything.Nothing is frozen up, the new idler pulley looks a little toasty but thats across the entire pulley not just the inner edge. And again how in the heck do you pull apart just one groove..The back of the belt looks like its been hot,and again across the entire withe of the belt not just the inner edge.
So any ideas.? Anyone ever have this happen.? Going to get another belt and replace it..Want to get ahead of it and find out how the heck it can pull in half just the one inner groove. NOW i KNOW i keep saying that about the JUST the inner groove being pulled apart.IF it had been cut, split or twisted up i would be okay. Both ends of the one groove that snapped are frayed and stretched ...
