Just curious, but has anyone ever used something like this for window cranks instead of the plastic stock ones?

I've always liked this style and it will go nicely with my interior (black and chrome). It looks like it would eliminate the little clip that is a PITA to pull out and would attach with set screws.

Just trying to do some research before buying them! Thanks for any input.

They look good and they are universal so I would give them a shot. The only thing I would do is try to drill a small detent in the window mech shaft so that the set screws would have a good bite. Then I would put a little blue lock tight on the set screws.

My brother in law bought the same cranks for his old Beetle, I installed them and it was very easy. They are holding up just fine.

BTW, there's a cheap tool available that easily removes the stock spring clip.

I bought those very ones, and they were crap. Yes they are universal, and if you window has any kind of drag, from the window rubber, they will break, that's why I don't have them any more. I put new window rubber in both doors, and I guess because they are new and not broke in, my cranks lasted about a month. Yes I was bummed, because they look really good.
