Hello, looking for help on how to disassemble a sliding rear window like this. Not sure of manufacturer. I was hoping that at least sliding glass pieces could come out easily for cleaning, but don't want to break anything. Frame is riveted together. Thanks for any help.

You sure it’s aftermarket? The factory ones were riveted.

I’ve been around and around on this since the truck I recently bought had a slider from the factory but at some point had it replaced with solid glass, and I’ve been looking for a replacement slider. There’s some info online about these but not enough and some of it conflicts with other stuff out there. What you need to figure out is whether or not it’s factory or not because that will dictate which gasket you’ll have to use to install. From what I understand aftermarket sliders with the 1/4 flange use the solid glass gasket, others use the factory slider gasket that’s harder to find. Anyway, good luck!

Other than being riveted, what are other clues to it being factory or aftermarket?

I was able to save the gasket as it was in a parts cab and I basically cut the metal out around the window.

Any markings on the glass or the latch? Mine says “passport” which is obviously because it’s an aftermarket one made by Passport. From what I remember from back in the day when I owned a square body with a factory slider is that the latch was plastic and not metal, the whole assembly was thinner, didn’t protrude out the back of the window opening at all, and it was really flimsy. Of course this was a 1981 truck in 1996 so that window was already 15 years old. Of course, what kind of shape is that window going to be in over 40?

I'll look closer at the window but so far the only writing is the labeling on the glass indicating it's tempered.
The latch is metal. I'm hoping to be able to disassemble it enough to clean the felt weatherstripping, etc.
